DYLAN COVERS #67 - The Association/Jerry Jeff Walker - One Too Many Mornings

THE ASSOCIATION - One Too Many Mornings(1965)
This is a great Dylan song full of atmosphere, I love the lines 'As the night comes in a-fallin' the dogs'll loose their bark'. I have taken two different takes in two completely different styles. The first one is by the 60's group The Association (remember Windy?) it is quite an unusual take and not what you would expect from that type of group. It was first released as a single in 1965.
The second version is from Country singer Jerry Jeff Walker who is probably best know for writing the classic Mr Bojangles. The story goes that Jerry met a guy in prison and he wrote the song based on that guy's story. Interestingly Dylan covered Mr Bojangles on the covers album Dylan, which is not as bad as it's reputation. Check out Lily of the West if you have any doubts. This cover is from Jerry's 1977 album A Man Must Carry On and is really good and a far superior effort to the Association.
