SATURDAY NIGHT JUKEBOX! - Jack Peñate - 'Tonight's Today'
Jack Peñate - 'Tonight's Today' (2009)
This is the perfect song to play if you are having what could be the last barbecue of the summer. Its about not wanting the night to end and carrying on until morning and I know how that goes! I imagine people sambaing on the beach and squinting my eyes because the setting sun rays are so bright.

It makes me think of when I was last on a beach, squinting my eyes with pleasure as I supped on a nice, refreshing, cold cider with my toes in the sand. I visited Cornwall for the first time in July and stayed at a picturesque cove in Perranporth. Our hotel was attached to a surf school and we over looked the beach and more importantly, a beach bar! It was the first trip with our little dog too, luckily it was a dog friendly place. After spending the afternoon at the beach bar and the evening in the hotel's bar watching some traditional Cornish musicians jam, we went to bed. I woke up a few hours later, in a daze and realised the dog had woken me up needing to go out. I hadn't anticipated what we'd need to do if the need for a midnight wee occurred. I tried to rouse the other half who was still snoring in his red wine induced slumber as I thought it only right for 'the man' to go out in the middle of the night. Well it didn't work and the look in my dog's little eyes was becoming desperate. I had no choice but to get her all harnessed up and go for a walk at 02:30. It was actually really pleasant! It was so peaceful except the hum of the waves and dark except for the street lamps and a distant bonfire on the beach from a bunch of surfers trying to make 'tonight today'. On our way back to the hotel the silence was broken by a big black dog running up the from the beach barking at me all of a sudden. I practically jumped out of my high tops, I was given the fright of my young life. Tranquillity and quiet contemplation well and truly ruined!
