ED SHEERAN - Masters of War (2013)

Here are two covers by one of the new bucks on the scene Ed Sheeran. The first take can be found on the ONE Agit8 album dedicated to protest songs for charity. It was recorded live exclusively by Ed in 2013.

The second is a live cover of Don't Think Twice it's Alright recorded in 2012. Nice job Ed!

Old Pa - don't take this the wrong way because you are a good mate but please don't post any more Ed Sheeran. He should never be allowed anywhere near a Dylan song. On the other hand, I'm just a grumpy old git who hates nearly all these young chaps with acoustic guitars. I could tell you why but it would probably sound irrational and mean.

SB - irrational and mean...oh! yes I would love to hear and I like grumpy too! Can't say they are great, they are just OK....but at least it brought on an honest response

He picks well enough, doesn't he but there's little emotion in the vocal. As for my 'mean' and 'irrational' feeling about Ed and the like, I just think it's a bit of a yawn because I've yet to hear a really decent song from any of them and why bother anyway when this has all been done before. Kids...get your own thing going and don't live in the past! Also, people like Ed and (who's that bloke who thinks he's the new Billy Bragg?)...they are all toffs aren't they? I'm an inverted snob!
Told you I was mean and irrational.

SB - a nice bit of vitriol, love it...but there is a bit of truth in what you say....but did not the master start by singing songs from the past until he found his own voice.
