SLAVERS

JOY DIVISION - The Passover

SLAVERS

I watched a good movie last night,  Embrace of the Serpent  it was in black and white. It dealt with the indigenous Amazonian Indians and the impact made by the need for rubber in the early part of last century. The Amazonian Indians were used as slaves and treated horrifically. When I read about it, I was left in shock how cruel man really is. Sometimes I feel ashamed to be part of the human race. The abuse and slavery continues to this day and goes on in our own back yards. It has to stop. The people responsible have to be caught. They have to pay for this most horrible of crimes.

SLAVERS

In the early part of the century
when rubber was the liquid gold
the native Amazonian Indians
were forced to slavery I'm told
USA gave one hundred dollars
a payment for each slave caught
treatment was vicious and cruel
a quarter of a million wiped out
with many tribes gone forever
we lost everything they were ever taught

All the men responsible
for these hideous crimes
when their judgement day came
I hope and I prey
they were all taken down
to Hades Hell
and suffer for eternity

Slavers came to coasts of Africa
where they stole 13 million souls
they herded them up in chains
thrown into stinking hell holes
crossed the sea on Slaver ships
and never to see the sun's rays
if they could survive the journey
to the Americas Southern States
they were sold off into slavery
to pick white cotton for rest of their days

All the men responsible
for these hideous crimes
when their judgement day came
I hope and I prey
they were all taken down
to Hades Hell
and suffer for eternity

The evil crime of human slavery
it still continuing until this day
millions of girls are trafficked
for all sick men to lust and pay
the new power house of India
many thousands kids disappear
they end up in squalid brothels
they're raped abused every day
the government turns a blind eye
while their families are left living in fear

All the men responsible
for these hideous crimes
when their judgement day comes
I hope and I prey
they are all taken down
to Hades Hell
and suffer for eternity

Moving words, Old Pa. I too am so very appalled at what went on and still does. I just don't get how we as a species can be so horrendous to our fellow man and woman. I'm particularly ashamed of it being such a huge part of the white person's history when, it seems to me, people like the Amazonian tribes and the Australian Aborigines are the ones who should truly have the most respect from us for the incredible way they live/d their lives so at one with the natural world, without greed nor the desire to destroy everything around them for selfish gain.

C well said we could learn a lot from these people. Where's my boomerang?

A poignant post, I thought, with a great comment from C until you asked 'where's my boomerang'. I heard about this film, not exactly light viewing and very upsetting I imagine. Like the time I watched Schindler's List, that was hard and is forever etched on my mind.
