DYLAN COVERS # 37 - Guns N' Roses - Knocking on Heavens Door (Live) x 4

GUNS N' ROSES - Knocking on Heavens Door(Live Wembley 1992)
I feel I'm Knocking

If I was pinned down, Guns N' Roses version of  'Knocking on Heavens Door' most certainly could be in my top 10 of Dylan Covers. The trouble is my top 10 keeps changing from day to day the more I delve into it. Talk about ' a beautiful obssesion'. I am trying not to take it too seriously, but if I can make you fellow Dylan fans be aware of anything you have not heard before and you like it, then that is all I want. If I find a gem, all I want to do is share it with you.nothing more nothing less. That sounds like Jeffery Archer. Help!

I was sent to Brussels in the late 80's and went to the famous square. I was sampling several of the hundreds of beers Belgium is famous for,  If you get the chance try some 'Kwak' ( make sure you have a free day (tomorrow) I went to a kind of  'Cellar bar' and they were playing  music, everything sounded good at the stage I was at. (Kwak! Kwak!).  Knocking on Heavens Door by GNR came on and it is the nearest I have ever been to 'head banging'. If there was a 'mosh pit' I would have been first to dive.

How did I survive the meeting the next day. I don''t know?. I could hardly speak, let alone act intelligent. Lunch time saved me a couple of 'Trappist Beers' did the business. They saw a new guy for the afternoon session.  Bring it on!

GUNS N' ROSES - Knocking on Heaven 's Door (live Paris 1992)

OooH! I love those 'poofty'shorts

GUNS N' ROSES - Knocking on Heavens Door (Live Tokyo 1992)

Is that the same 'poofty shorts'.....stinky!

GUNS N' ROSES - Knocking on Heaven's Door(Live at the Ritz New York 1988)

I think this is possibly the best version.of the 4. What do you think?  All you big GNR fans please let me know of some better versions out there.

Ha! I was going to use this song last night on my blog! lol I couldn't find the Dylan version I wanted. I enjoyed this Old Pa. I took my youngest and a crew of his mates to see Guns n Roses in San Jose in the early 1990s.

Thank you Caregiver. Would have loved to have seen them live when they were at their peak. Both my son and daughter were big fans. I listened to an interview with Slash a few years back and was (I don't know why?) surprised how inteligent and articulate he was.

It is a great cover, no matter what anyone says. They took an already good song and made it their own. Good story old pa, I always thought you were Kwackers!

Do-woh-oh ahi, ahi, ahi-ahi yeah...fuckin' brilliant! Though I probably love this song more for the memories associated with it. Like SH says they made that song their own. G'nR were never my favourite but love it or hate it, they were at their peak here with the double album 'Use Your Illusion'.
