DYLAN COVERS # 48 Elvis Costello - I threw it all Away/Knocking on Heaven's Door

Dylan and a young Woody Guthrie

ELVIS COSTELLO - I threw it all Away(2010)
ELVIS COSTELLO(Flip City) - Knocking on Heavens Door(1975)

Elvis C first recorded  'I Threw it all Away' on his album the 'Kojak Variety'(1995) an album of covers.. The take here is from a live show 'Spectacle' in  2010 and is splendid thank you very much.

The second take of  'Knocking on Heavens Door' by Elvis C is when he was with a band called Flip City and before he became famous. It is s from a CD of Demos of the Band live in a Studio in 1975. It's pretty good to.

Elvis has covered Mr D in quite a few occasions and I will feature some more in the future.

There are only two Elvis's in my book

Elvis nails 'I Threw it All Away' for sure. There are a host of fine live performances from the Spectacle TV shows, solo & otherwise, scattered around YouTube, I'm still bumping into the odd one I haven't seen before. Check out Elvis & Jakob Dylan's interpretation of The Clash's 'Straight to Hell' for starters - spectacular!

Really nice version of 'I Threw it All Away', which is undoubtedly one of Bob's finest love songs.
