TUESDAY BLUES! Ryan Adams - Houses On the Hill

Ryan Adams - Houses On the Hill (iTunes Session/KCRW)

I recently picked up the Ryan Adams iTunes session and noticed that Houses on the Hill was included. This  song was originally performed by Ryan's band Whiskeytown and featured on their 1997 album Strangers Almanac. I was always a fan of the original, however, I never really "listened" to lyrics before.  This acoustic version just seems to take it to another level.

"eisenhower sent him to war

he kept her picture in his pocket that was closest to his heart

and when he hit shore

must have been a target for the gunman"

Bloody brilliant. Adams at his best. Loved Whiskeytown.

Ooh butt, this could be the musical equivalent of the first 20mins of 'Saving Private Ryan'.
