Millie Jackson - This is it/Kiss You all Over

KISS ME ALL OVER!

MILLIE JACKSON - This is It
I had a Millie Jackson period during the early 80's. Well, what actually happened was I wanted to hear some stuff of hers and when I was on Holiday in Canada during the late seventies, I visited a record shop (as you do) and found in the bargain area 5 Millie Jackson albums all at about 50p each.

So as you can imagine I had a bit of a Millie Jackson session. I like some of her stuff, but she ended up being a bit of a cabaret singer specialising in being the woman's champion and trying to be outrageous. Boring!.

However, I had a brief experience with MJ with her earlier albums and I loved her voice. The tracks I choose was the the fabulous Kenny Loggins song This is It. If you can suffer the the first 3 mins of what Millie had become then you will just love her interpretation of this, one of my favourite loves songs. (it was actually written for his dying father and he thought it may inspire him to fight, yes a love song)  I have woken for the past two mornings with this song in my head.

I just had to follow up with her great version of Kiss you all Over....well its been a long time and I'm feeling Bitchy.

Hey guys do you remember theses times! way back, way way back!.

Great voice but a shame she over-indulged in her 'lover man' stuff. When you peel all that away she was very fine.

I agree with Mr Bear. She has such a great voice, it's a pity that you have to wade through so much chit-chit before she finally gets to the songs. Someone should go back to those albums and do some judicious editing!
