TRACKS OF THE WEEK 13/03/2016 - Jeff Wootton, The Fall, Underworld

TRACKS OF THE WEEK

Flycasual:-
Underworld - 'I Exhale' (2016)

A marvelous Underworld track, which is up there amongst their best I feel. The thumping beat along with their trademark spoken, vocal style, is like a musical instrument, adding another layer to the barrage of beautiful noise. 'I Exhale' is taken from the duo's forthcoming album, their first in 6 years, Barbara Barbara, We Face a Shining Future.

Sfw:-
Jeff Wootton - The Eternal (2016)

This guy is new to me despite the fact that he has played lead guitar with Gorillaz, collaborated with Brian Eno, Massive Attack, Nick Zinner, Noel & Liam Gallagher and part of the Africa Express album. The Eternal features on his debut album The Way The Light and This track also features a rare african instrument called an Imzad which I recorded in Mali with Damon Albarn. Oooh.

Old Pa's Corner:-
The Fall - Wise Ol' Man

The delicious Mark E Smith, who seems to get better looking with age.  This is from his new EP of old and new stuff just released. This has all the incredients of classic Fall, driving guitar and Mark's distintive volcal, very distinctive. I love this one.

Love 'Wise Old Man' though I do, 'I Exhale' is fast becoming one of my favourite tunes of the first quarter of 2016 - epic! I don't know Jeff Wootton, but 'The Eternal' is pretty interesting too.

FC - Love this...instant hit with me, that big bass does it
SFW - Nice and different...must be the Imzad. His voice sounds bit like Lou Reed
