Max Jury - Detroit or Buffalo

TUESDAY BLUES

Do you like Singer/Songwriters/Alt-Country/Americana or Indie-Folk, or do you have a unhealthy affection to the sadness, if so you may have a case of the Tuesday Blues!

Max Jury - Detroit or Buffalo (2017)

Max Jury has a number of things going for him.  One, he's an excellent piano/guitar playing singer-songwriter and two, he has a superhero sounding name. Those two things alone should give him greatness. The 23 year old from Iowa has just released some covers (via spotify) of 'Detroit or Buffalo' - Barbara Keith, 'One Step' - David Wiffen, 'Ballad of Spider John' - Willis Alan Ramsey and 'Sitting in Limbo' - Jimmy Cliff.

Apart from Jimmy Cliff, I hadn't heard of anything by the others before and now thanks to Max Jury, I've now gone further down the musical rabbit hole.

If you haven't heard of Max Jury before, check out his self-titled album from last year.

He's also gained a number of high profile fans that include Mark Ronson, who has said "Max's songs and musicianship conjure up so many of my favourite elements of country, soul, gospel & rock'n'roll. I can listen to his album on repeat.".

So there.

People expected to fall, hit that same old wall
Really they don't wanna help at all
They talk behind your back today
Shake their heads and say
Well, I always knew that the girl would come to no good anyway

I better pack it up and go
Detroit or Buffalo
Anybody wanna know where, you don't know
You don't know
God knows, everybody's gotta go sometime
And I'm taking this train 'til the end of the line
Missing every mile that friend of mine

I haven't been too well myself
A lot of time on the shell
Saying that I don't need help when I do, yes I do
But I'm gonna be just fine
A lot of friends a little while
Still I wish I could see you again sometime

I better pack up and go
Detroit or Buffalo
Anybody wanna know where, I don't know
I don't know
God knows, everybody's gotta go sometime
And I'm taking this train 'til the end of the line
Missing every mile that friend of mine

It's hard to open up the door
Like you've done so many times before
Sometimes you think you just can't do it anymore
Take a chance and take a train
Out into the pouring rain
And all you've got is your suitcase full of pain

I better pack up and go
Detroit or Buffalo
Anybody wanna know where, I don't know
I don't know
God knows, everybody's gotta go sometime
And I'm taking this train 'til the end of the line
Missing every mile that friend of mine

That was great, one to watch. I'm not sure if you made some of those lyrics up? eg. 'A lot of time on the shell' not shelf? & 'A lot of friends a little while' Wine? If not, Max have a word with yourself.
