THE BEAT - Mirror in the Bathroom (1980)
What a classic! it is just as good to-day, as when I first heard it. It was my track of the year in 1980.
Have you ever tried to change a bathroom suite?.
Take my advice, just don't even think about it. I tried once and it was just a disaster. When I fitted the actual toilet and did a test flush there was water everywhere. No matter what I did, there always seemed to be a leak. I wish someone told me that the rubber seal was meant to be the other way round. I found this out after hours of tears and sweat, sealants and fillers
.
Then there was fitting the bath. I just could not tighten the leads to the taps. I just could not quite get to it. All that was required was a couple of good turns and the problem would have been solved. I tried, I cursed, I scraped my knuckles, I cried, I screamed. I looked in the 'Mirror in the Bathroom' I had actually turned grey. I was about to go downstairs and get a sledge hammer and give that bath something it would never forget. Oh! Boy! It would have felt so good.Take my advice, just don't even think about it. I tried once and it was just a disaster. When I fitted the actual toilet and did a test flush there was water everywhere. No matter what I did, there always seemed to be a leak. I wish someone told me that the rubber seal was meant to be the other way round. I later had to go to my local DIY shop for something and I mention my little problem to the guy there. 'Oh! what you need is 'is one of them tools' which he immediately produced for me. I went home and completed the job in lest than 1 minute.
Don't do these jobs, Get someone who knows what he/or she is doing. You get one shot at it and you learn all the faults the hard way. If I had to do again, it would be easy, (well easyish) but how many times do you change a bathroom suite.? Well I won't be doing it again. Thats for sure.

My own DIY skills are non-existent, I've almost had a finger off just tightening a screw, but fortunately Mrs S is the Queen of DIY - where would I be without her? Not sure she'd go as far as to try installing a bathroom suite though!
I bought that single when it came out and had forgotten but it still sounds great. Thanks!
