DYLAN COVERS # 50 - Marlene Dietrich - Blowing in the Wind/Telly Savalas - I Shall be Released - Movie Stars Pt 2

Die Antwort Weiss Ganz Allein Der Wind (roughly translated 'don't fart when you are down wind')

MARLENE DIETRICH - Blowing in the Wind(1965)

This I believe was recorded in 1965 by Marlene and is still currently available or her album 'The essential Marlene Dietrich'    if you heard this and did not know who it is by, the first person you would come up with is probably Nico from the Velvet Underground. There is definitely similarities in the voices. What do you think?.
The lollipop Man

TELLY SAVALAS - I Shall be Released(1972)

This is taken from the album 'The two Sides of Telly Savalas' it is worth hearing only for it's novelty value  I'm afraid, but you make your own mind up. Does it make me want to search out all these old 'Kojak' videos?, Well the answer to that is a big fat no! I never liked the series. Oh! well!  'every Man can be replaced' I suppose.

Nico definitely owed something to Marlene. It's always great to hear a Dylan cover from out of 'left field'. I particularly like the flute. As for Telly Savalas - I love it for all the wrong reasons! I must find this album - it's fantastically terrible. A challenge: Is there a worse Dylan cover? Go on, I dare you!

I expected Telly to offer a speaking version in the manner of his take on 'If' - but no, this is even worse! Make it stop...make it stop!

Kojak is supposed to be catching murderers not committing them!! That pic with him with a cigar and a shooter is priceless!
