Flycasual's - Best of 2015

2015 - There has been a reawakening....have you felt it?

Sfw, Shell Hunter and I after the first showing of the Force Awakens.

Work, kids, mopping the floor and combined with a hint of can't be botheredness has left the blog somewhat 'rudderless'. It is thanks to the musings of Old Pa that it has been kept afloat, so hats off to you for staying at the helm. Although, as always, the music has been great, it has suffered as a result as I used to rely on my fellow bloggers for those musical gems which always used to fill up my best of's the year and the whole point of starting the blog in the first place. I'm back like Rocky V!

Tobias Jesso Jr - 'How Could You Babe'

He sounds like Lennon, my wife doesn't like him....win win! A beautifully crafted painful song of love and despair, we have all been there. Taken from the Canadian's excellent debut album he almost never made!

Action Bronson - 'Baby Blue' feat Chance the Rapper

Soulful Hip Hop is what I'm all about, this has it in abundance! Funny, witty and smooth from New York's rapping chef.

Sleaford Mods - 'Tarantula Deadly Cargo'

Goodness knows how many times I've played this track, simple, effective and with that bassline I defy you not to bob your head.

Jamie XX - 'Loud Places' feat Romy

Without doubt my track of the year, from the moment I first heard it. Dark yet uplifting from JamieXX's impeccable production, Romy's hushed vocals to the gospel like chorus. And it has skating in the video!

Songhoy Blues - 'Sekou Oumarou'

Magnificent track from the Desert Blues punks, bringing something a little different to the table. Taken from the Malian's debut album, 'Music in Exile'.

Tobias Jesso Jr. - This song came on random whilst bussing into work the other day... For me it's always a good sign when I interrupt my game playing time to check who a song is by... Really good track... Bad husband

Action Bronson - It's the kind of rap I prefer, not to hardcore and singalong-ish

Sleaford Mods - I find this band a bit of a fad novelty type... Whilst I agree that it's musically good the vocals grate after a few listens. So overall it's a no from me

Jamie XX - An excellent song, between you and Shellhunter you've said it all

Songhoy Blues - Very African, very of the Tiniawaren mold... Very good

I'm seriously missing something with Tobias, everyone's loving him at the moment. I get the Lennon connection, though it's Julian I hear, not John! Love the Sleaford Mods, one of the most intense gigs I've seen in recent years. Had a chance to see the mighty Songhoy Blues in the Summer too, but blew it - d'oh!

All crackers pal. Your top 20 is always a great place to discover stuff that I would not always target. The Jamie XX, Songhoy Blues and Archie Bronson are perfect examples. Boom

TJ - definitely a grower again, the more I hear it the more I like it. As OP said, Lennonish
Action - I absolutely love the major nod to Coming To America with the vid! Love this, casual beat lovin BBQ rap.
SM - like you, I don't tire of this song or these guys. from what I've heard The main guy's voice sounds like the bearded guy who gets shot in the cage in Lock Stock. Just an added bonus!
Jamie XX - Just an all round fantastic feel good song. Back you up 100% blud
SB - brilliant, I would love to see them live if they are coming down to London?
