HIP HOP CLASSICS - Homeliss Derilex - 'Survivin' the Game'

They won't get many accolades for their spelling but they make that up in Golden Age hip hop goodness!

Homeliss Derilex - 'Survivin' the Game' (2005)

Bizarrely this track will always remind me of floating around the limestone scenery of Halong Bay, Vietnam as opposed to the mean streets of Camberley. But strangely enough it suited the surroundings as it's a laid back head bobbing sort of tune. It has one of the dopest beats you're likely to hear, some clever atmospheric sampling and with MC Grand V's lazy drawl helping it along,it encapsulates that old skool vibe. I love the line towards the middle of the song about some ass getting kicked from here to Katmandu, a crew who are geographically conscious, word!

Homeliss Derilex have been around for some time and this track was actually recorded during the 'golden age' of the early 90's. But for some reason or another they never really got their break until 2005 when their material finally got released.

Homeliss Derilex, putting spelling back on the map!
I first heard this track off a DJ Peanut Butter Wolf compilation from the Stones Throw record label (also home of Aloe Blacc seemingly before he needed a dollar) and instantly liked it becoming one of my all time favourite Hip Hop tunes. I am glad they survived the game!

Oh yes. Nice one. Great vibe. This is new to me but I'll be keeping an ear out for more of these blokes.
