DYLAN COVERS # 103 Dave's True Story/Black Motor - When Dogs Run Free

Are dogs free from the chains of their owner

DAVE'S TRUE STORY - If Dogs Run Free

Here are a couple of takes of a not very often covered song from  'New Morning', If Dogs  Run Free. It may well be one of the strangeest Dylan ones around. The first one is from Dave's True Story's  album of Dylan Covers,  'Simple Twist of Fate : DTS Does Dylan'.

Who are Black Motor? you may well ask, they are new to me. They are made up of Saxophonist Sami Sippols, Ville Rauhala on double bass and Simo Laihonen on drums. They are joined by a couple of friends Rauli Rantanen and Ville Pirinen. This is taken from a Dylan 70th birthday concert at Telakka, Tampere, Finland 24.5.2011. I am not really a big Jazz fan, but this is pretty good.

Great finds Old Pa! I'd not heard of either of these and like them both a great deal.

Got a ticket for the final night at the Royal Albert Hall this morning. I notice Bob's not venturing into Spain this time around. Are you going to be able to make it to a show on the tour?

TS - Good for you. You lucky boy! I would love to see him again. How many times will that be, if Brighton was #50. I am impressed. First saw him Earl's Court 1981,,,,had tickets for Blackbush but did not make it. Also was going to go to Isle of Wight too.
Hope he comes to Spain soon. Either to the Mountains of Madrid or the Coasts of Barcelona

I'll have to have a recount. The vast majority were in the 1990's (the three Hammersmith residencies helped to bump up the numbers!), with a few in the 80's & the 00's. My first was Blackbushe & 2nd Earls Court in '81!

Can't believe he's spending so long in Europe, but not touching Spain - gutting.

Both very good covers of one Dylan song that can't have that many versions. Must get to hear more of both artists.
