SATURDAY NIGHT JUKEBOX! - Jefferson Airplane - 'White Rabbit'

Jefferson Airplane - 'White Rabbit' (1967)

During a post pub sesh, Old Pa and I were having an impromptu music fest where he dusted off his "all time greats" despite a few moans and groans from me. I asked him to play for the crowd for a change and that night, a few songs really stuck out for me...especially 'White Rabbit'. I'd only heard it in passing and hadn't really paid attention. This time, it was like I was ready for it.

That tash can't be real

It became one of my favourite songs of last year and I'm determined to get into more psychedelic rock if it was this good! Grace Slick's lyrics really appealed to me as it reminded me of a reoccurring nightmare I used to have about Alice In Wonderland, probably because I watched it so often growing up! Also am I the only one who can envisage Torvill and Dean doing their famous Bolero routine at the start of this? I promise I haven't eaten any mind altering mushrooms!

If I were looking for a White Rabbit, I'd ask the Mad Hatter

I love the intro, love the song, not only does it reminds me of the film Platoon, which is no bad thing but what Old Pa used to say...(see above). No I won't rise to it.....isn't it doormouse?

Never really gave this my full attention before - would sound perfect on a Tarantino soundtrack - during a killing scene of some sort...
