Lucinda Williams version of 'Positively 4th Street' is up there with my favourite takes of this iconic song. This first one is from a Covers album "In Their Own Words", released in 1994. Her voice is just perfect for this slowed down version! There seems to be a resigned sadness to it all. It is a different feel from the angry sneer screaming out Dylan's original. This is great stuff!.I love it.
Whats my favourite Dylan Cover?... well this is big time up there....get me out of here quick! before I commit.!!!!
Version 2 is taken from the excellent compilation Album 'The Village' (2009) there are some really good versions of Bob songs there, as well as other good covers. Of the two version I will give the nod to the first one, but they are both pretty dam good. It's a tough call. What's your favourite.

commentsI like Lucinda, but I've somehow missed both these excellent covers. It's a close call, but I think i'll plump for the 2009 one as my pick of them - the voice is that much more worn, lived in, and...desperate somehow. It's very interesting to compare the two of them though. Great stuff.
