Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy - 'Television, The Drug Of The Nation'

Hip Hop Classics....straight outta Camberley y'all!

Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy...shhh, not now Celebrity Big Brother's on!

Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy - 'Televison, the Drug of the Nation' (1991)

I've finally got my new born baby boy to settle, so I collapse on to the sofa, bleary-eyed and flick through the channels on the TV, something I don't do that often. With good reason too, whether it's daytime TV or the wee small hours, I'm rewarded with MTV's Valleys, Loose Women, Lorraine, Jeremy Kyle, Homes Under the Hammer, Extreme Couponing, Eddie Stobart Trucks & Trailers, Secret Eaters etc etc. It's excruciatingly mind numbing. In fact I'm praying my son fills his nappy with an explosive poo so that I can go and change it instead.

Loose Women, "you can't say that...it's only 12:35...ooh you are naughty!"

Although the two weeks paternity leave has been enjoyable, I'm glad to see the back of all that garbage I pay my TV license for. Of course it reminds me of a little song I know which is still relevant now as it was then.

Michael Franti's Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy gave us a bonafide Rap classic with a powerful message, Gil Scott-Heron in it's stinging commentary on American society delivered with the same venomous fervour as Chuck D. There's no hiding place. Taken from their 1992 debut album, Hypocrisy is the Greatest Luxury.

Michael Franti and Spearhead are still going strong, All People his 8th studio album was released last year (2013). Check out his website here....

One of my all time favourite Hip-Hop tunes. Michael Franti is just great.

We found that we were increasingly getting home from work, collapsing in front of the telly and suddenly finding it was one in the morning. Our lives were slipping away while gallons of risible murk sloshed around our eyeballs, so we ditched the TV and haven't owned one since 2003. We only had five channels at the time, I can't imagine what it must be like to wade through it all now.
Nowadays we watch about 90 minutes worth of DVD or On Demand stuff before we crash out in the evening and consequently listen to a great deal more music, always a bonus.
Top tune there Flycasual and, if I've neglected to say it before, congratulations to you and yours on the new arrival.
